How to Write a Cover Letter
When starting to write any cover letter, it is always best to plan the content of your letter based on the requirements of the job you’re applying for (Glassdoor).
- The job or type of job for which you’re applying
- The other information that’s important to your situation (For example date when you are available for an interview and the best time to reach you during the day)
- A brief statement highlighting your skills and experiences in your resume that makes you qualify for the job.
When applying for a job that doesn’t fit directly into your experience, make sure you explain how your background and qualifications match the requirements of the position.
In some cases, your cover letter is more important than your resume itself. If it does not impress the reader he or she may not bother to look at your resume.
The appearance of your cover letter is as important as that of your resume. Tailor each cover letter to the job and company that you are applying to.
It’s very important to keep your cover letter on one page. Remember that the cover letter is for you to quickly highlight your qualifications and accomplishments.
Like your resume, have your cover letter check by one or two persons. Remember you can have no misspelling or grammatical errors.
